Create an Email Address

With every domain name you purchase from Gandi you receive two free standard email inboxes. You can also purchase additional email inboxes. These email will exist as credits on your account until you go into the settings for your domain and create the email inbox.

To access your domain settings log into your Gandi account and select “Domain,” then select the domain name you wish to manage from the list.

Check for Correct MX Records

Before you create your email address, you will want to do a quick check of your DNS Records. Click on the “DNS Records” tab. Check to make sure the DNS Records listed below exist on your domain. If they do not exist, add them using “Add.”

Create the Email Address

Select the “Email” tab for the domain, then select “Create +.” If you do not have any mailboxes available, you can follow the instructions for adding mailboxes.

The following screen will ask for the name of the mailbox and password. If your domain name is example.com and you name your mailbox “myname”, your email address would be myname@example.com.

Optional Aliases

You also have the option to create alias addresses for your mailbox as you create your mailboxes. These are other email addresses that will receive mail, but it will all be received in the same mailbox. See our page on aliases to learn more.

Once you have filled out the form, select “Create” to create the mailbox.

Set Up Your Email Client

After you have created your email address, you will need to configure your local email client to view and send email for that address. You can also access your mail with the email address and password you gave through our webmail.
