Most extensions have a transfer protection mechanism, that consists of a lock that can be put on the domain. When the transfer lock is enabled, the domain can’t be transferred.
Only individual with the right permissions, such as an owner or administrative contact, can access the authorization code for domain transfers.
Not all extensions have the ability to place a transfer lock. For example, most two letter tlds (cctlds like “.uk” and “.fr”) do not have this feature.
To transfer a domain away from Gandi, you must disable the transfer lock.
To unlock your domain(s):
- For 1 Domain
- Once you are in your domain’s administration page, click on “Transfer” in the navigation menu. This will bring up the page where you can remove the protection by clicking on “Remove transfer lock”.
- For Multiple Domains
- From your domain list, switch to “Table view”. Check the boxes of the domains you want to unlock, and then choose “Transfer Protection” on the bottom of the page. You can then unlock the domain from the pop-up that is displayed.
