How to Use Gandi’s Trustee Service to Register Domains with Regional Extensions

Trustee service is a service offered by Gandi which allows you to register domains in regionally restricted TLDs.

While most TLDs are open to anyone without restriction, some TLDs have restrictions in place on who can register a domain using that TLD, often requiring some kind of regional presence to register a domain. Some of these domains restrictions allow for you to purchase a trustee service. A trustee service links you with a provider in the region who helps you meet the regional requirements for that domain.

You will see a “trustee” label for these domains in your account.

Trustee service is especially useful for companies who wish to purchase their brand name in as many TLDs as possible to preserve their brand identity.

Gandi offers two forms of trustee service:

• Auto Trustee: This is a free service which is automatically added when you purchase a domain with Gandi.

• Corporate Trustee: This service is currently only offered for users who use our corporate services.

We have plans to expand these services in the future.
