Purchase Your Web Hosting ¶

To create a new web hosting, navigate to the Web Hosting section of your account, and then click on the Create button.

Choose Your Plan ¶

Choose which plan best fits your needs. Options include Starter, Advanced, Pro, and Business. You can later choose to upgrade your plan if needed. You will not be able to downgrade your plan.

Choose Your Domain Name ¶

Each Gandi Web Hosting comes with a free domain name at the time of purchase. Choose the domain name you want to use or use one you already own.

Important

The free domain name can only be redeemed during the initial creation of your web hosting. If you choose not to create a new domain name, you will not be able to go back and choose a free domain name at a later point.

Complete Purchase ¶

Once you have selected your plan and domain name, you can proceed to complete the purchase for your web hosting.

Configure Your Web Hosting ¶

Once you have purchased your web hosting, you can set it up using the options you select. Start by visiting the Web Hosting section in your account and clicking on the name of the web hosting you just purchased.

Configuration Options ¶

You can have your web hosting automatically configured to use one of the apps we provide, or choose to set up your web hosting a la carte.

Location ¶

You can choose which location works best for your server. Generally, it is best to choose the location nearest you, though in most situations either location will work equally well.

When you have selected your options click “Continue”.

A La Carte Options ¶

If you chose to set up your web hosting a la carte you will be able to select a programming language and database.

Click “Continue” to move on to the next screen.

Link to a Domain ¶

You will be given an option to link your web hosting to an existing Gandi domain name, if you have not already done so. You can choose from a drop down list of all your existing domain names at Gandi.

Next, you will be asked for the specific address of your website, including any subdomains.

At each screen click “Continue” to proceed. You can also update this information later.

Password ¶

Next, you will be asked to provide a password. You will use this password to edit your website. This password is separate from the password you use to access your Gandi account.

Click “Continue” to proceed.

Name ¶

Your web hosting had a name automatically generated when it was created, but you can change that name if you would like.

Click “Continue” to finish the configuration process. It may take a few minutes to complete your web hosting. Once the site is ready you will be able to find it in the “Web Hosting” section of your account.
