Renewing Your SSL Certificate

When an:ref:SSL certificate<what_is_ssl> is issued, it is good for a single year. After that year you will need to renew your certificate.

For security reasons it will be necessary to generate a new CSR for renewal. You will not be able to use the previously used CSR or its private key. If your SSL certificate was generated automatically, we will generate the new CSR and private key for you. Otherwise, you will need to provide the new CSR.

You must renew your SSL certificate before it’s expiration date. It is not possible to renew a certificate after its expiration.

Note that the renewal takes effect starting from the current expiration date. You do not need to worry about losing the remaining time on your current certificate by renewing early. An SSL certificate can be renewed up to 60 days before its expiration date.

To renew a certificate, follow these steps:

  1. After logging in to your account, click “SSL Certificates” in the left menu.
  2. Click on the name of the certificate you want to renew.
  3. Click “Renew” and follow the steps to add the certificate to your shopping cart.
  4. Proceed through checkout to complete your order.
