How to Renew an SSL Certificate

When an SSL certificate is issued, it is good for a single year. After that year you will need to renew your certificate.

For security reasons it will be necessary to generate a new CSR for renewal. You will not be able to use the previously used CSR or its private key. If your SSL certificate was generated automatically, we will generate the new CSR and private key for you. Otherwise, you will need to provide the new CSR.

Warning

You must renew your SSL certificate before it’s expiration date. It is not possible to renew a certificate after its expiration.

Note that the renewal takes effect starting from the current expiration date. You do not need to worry about losing the remaining time on your current certificate by renewing early. An SSL certificate can be renewed up to 30 days before its expiration date.

You can renew an SSL certificate from the SSL table or from the admin page for the certificate.
