Interactive Migration Help: Common Errors When Creating V5 Account

These are some common errors you may encounter when creating a V5 account.

Incorrect Username Format

When a password is too weak a red line and the word "Weak" appears.

Your Gandi V5 username meet the following requirements.

  • Cannot have the format of a V4 handle (AB1234-GANDI)

  • Cannot be an email address

  • Can only contain alphanumeric chacaters (A to Z and 0 to 9) and an underscore (_).

  • Username is case insensitive (when you log it doesn’t matter if you type in upper case or lower case, it will still be the same).

Password “Weak”

When a password is too weak a red line and the word "Weak" appears.

As you type in a potential password, you will see a display showing your password’s complexity. A more complex password is more secure. You will not be allowed to create a password with evaluated as “weak.”

Your Username is Already in Use

When a username is already in use the field turns red and you are asked to provide a different username.

Your username must be unique, so if another user has already claimed it you will need to come up with a different username. One easy way to customize a username that is already in use is to add numbers or letters to the end.

Your Email Address is Already in Use

Each email address can only be used for a single account. To create another account choose another email address or use an alias.

When an email address is already in use the field turns red and you are asked to provide a different username.

If you unexpectedly see an email already is use error, we encourage you to request a password reset to look into the account and make sure it does not contain any products you need access to.
