Adding Domain Names¶
As a reseller, you are able to register and manage domains on behalf of your customers.
There are a couple of different ways that you can add domains to your customer’s account, depending on whether the domain is a new registration, or already existing outside Gandi or already at Gandi.
New Registration¶
To register a domain for your customer using our website:
proceed with the domain name registration process as usual,
when you are ready to checkout, at the „Ownership & Billing““ step, click on „Change“ next to the organization that is to be invoiced, and choose your reseller organization,
you will see a new step appear, where you can select the owner of the domains. Click „Select Owner“ to continue,
choose an existing owner account, or make a new one. This will be your customer, and the owner of the domain.
click on „Continue“ to proceed with the remainder of the domain registration process.
The result of this will be that the domain will be created, invoiced to your reseller organization, and be registered to your customer, that you can manage from your reseller account.
Please be sure, however, that the domain’s owner validates the email validation that we send to them. This is an ICANN requirement for ICANN-sponsored extensions.
Change Owner to a Customer¶
To change the owner on a domain from your reseller account to a customer follow the directions for an owner change. This process is only for domains owned by the reseller organization that your customer also belongs to.
Transfer to Gandi¶
If you have a customer’s domain at another registrar, and you want to manage it at Gandi under your reseller organization, you must launch a domain transfer.
During this operation, be sure to choose your reseller organization as the one to invoice.
By doing this, our system will automatically add another step in the process asking you to choose the owner of the domain (eg. your customer).
Fill out the form with your customer’s information (or choose an existing account that your customer has) and submit.
Transfer from another account within Gandi¶
If the domain in question is
in your personal account,
in one of your other organizations,
with another Gandi reseller,
managed by your customer directly,
to move it to be managed as a „customer“ of your reseller organization, you must perform a domain transfer.
By simulating a domain transfer operation in such cases, we can assure that it is properly moved to the new management configuration with the correct permissions and billing information.
Just like normal transfers to your reseller account from a different registrar, you must choose your reseller organization as the one to invoice at checkout.
By doing this, our system will automatically add another step in the process asking you to choose the owner of the domain (eg. your customer).
